Redmond this week

The mayor's two-year budget gets a public hearing Tuesday, October 20. Your neighborhood

Bear Creek. Evans Creek is being moved away from the industrial area north of NE Union Hill Road to give salmon better habitat, with 12 acres of native planting and two new bridges on the Evans Creek Trail. The $19 million stormwater-funded project is in design; the city expects construction to start in 2027 and finish in 2028. City of Redmond

Grass Lawn. The Grass Lawn Park parking lot on 148th Avenue NE is rebuilt: new pavement, curb ramps and sidewalks, new storm drains, and 22 trees replaced. The market in 60 seconds

Across city of Redmond listings in ZIPs 98052 and 98053, the median home sold for $1.30M over the last 30 days (76 closings; single-family alone $1.475M). The median home took 61 days from listing to closing, and there are 4.1 months of inventory on the market.

The same as Monday's first issue. Single-family homes are a little tighter, at 3.8 months, with 203 of the 310 active listings. Under three months favors sellers and above six favors buyers, so Redmond sits in balanced territory; 9% of homes closed above asking.

One useful thing: before the first windstorm

Fall windstorms are when the power goes out. The city's guidance: keep enough food, water and supplies for a few days, ideally two weeks, with one gallon of water per person per day. Sign up for AlertRedmond, the city's emergency notification system, and in a widespread outage tune a battery radio to the city's emergency station, AM 1650, which also streams online.
